About

Background/History: Until the Revolutionary War, the Colonists were under the tyrannical rule of England. They eventually fought for their independence and won in 1783. They officially declared their independence on July 4, 1776, but that did not become recognized by the British or the rest of the world until 7 years after. Now that they were not merely the colonies of a superpower, they needed a successful method of government. Eventually, democracy was decided as written in the Articles of Confederation. Unfortunately, this document left the central government with little to no power.
